Healthcare Standards (DICOM/HL7/IHE) Track

The Healthcare Imaging and Informatics Symposium has two simultaneous tracks, i.e. a Healthcare Imaging (PACS) and a Healthcare Standards (DICOM/HL7/IHE) track. In case you have acquired basic knowledge through experience or prior training, you can skip the first two days for each track and/or cross over to the other track.
This Healthcare Standards track contains a two day HL7 version 2 training followed by a one day seminar on the new FHIR HL7 standard and a two day advanced DICOM/HL7 troubleshooting class.
Your Instructor
Your instructor is Herman Oosterwijk (http://www.linkedin.com/in/hermanoosterwijk) who is a well know teacher, author and consultant for health care imaging and IT and taught thousands of students on this subject over the past 20 years in many regions including the USA, Latin America Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The intended audience is PACS administrators, service and support engineers, interface analysts, project managers and software engineers.

Day 1: HL7 V2 Messaging
- Comprehensive overview of HL7 message structure and transactions
- Trigger Events, Message Types, Segments, Fields
- Formatting, Several Examples
- Patient Registration, Orders and Results using a Practical Scenario
- Observational Reporting and Order Entry
- Codes, References and Encapsulated Data
- Patient Registration Examples (ADT?s)
Day 2: Hands-on using HL7 Messaging Workbench
- Troubleshoot and defining conformance profiles of HL7 messages using a simple but powerful software tool. This is especially useful for implementers, service/support engineers, and system administrators. A copy of the tool will be provided so you can do the same at your workplace and/or home after class.
Day 3: HL7 V3 FHIR
- Background and introduction
- FHIR information model
- REST
- Resources review, including current status
- Samples
Day 4: DICOM/HL7 troubleshooting
- HL7 parsers and review of transactions
- Order and result creation using simulator
- Send HL7 messages and use sniffer
- Edit image headers
- Verification, Send image, query/retrieve
- Review of conformance statements and HL7 specifications
Day 5: DICOM troubleshooting and validation
- Image header inspections
- Use of sniffer and protocol validation
- Common error scenarios
- Validation of protocols and image headers
- Create workflow and UML diagrams for different scenarios
