Product code: WP-101

This high paced web-based seminar teaches the essential components of the PACS architecture and how it relates to the workflow and its interaction with its environment, i.e. a hospital and/or departmental information system, acquisition modalities, enterprise archive, electronic health record and health information exchange.

Audience

This seminar provides the 'big picture' for professionals who support these systems (I.e. PACS administrators, Radiologic Technologists, biomedical engineers, service engineers and IT personnel), all of which are commonly interfacing with the PACS system. It can also be used as a foundation for anyone who wants to learn about this technology as they are looking for a career in healthcare imaging and informatics such as software developers and integration and interface analysts.

Detailed Learning Objectives

Students will understand the role of the various PACS components, such as the PACS archive, image manager and workflow manager, view stations and VNA as well as interfaces with modalities, departmental systems and reporting systems. This understanding will allow the students to support, interface and/or use PACS systems or its interfacing products and devices more effectively.

Class Structure

This is a synchronous delivered, instructor lead, live web session. This seminar will cover a lot of materials using a high pace, and it is therefore recommended to prepare yourself using the reading assignments from our PACS fundamentals book, which is distributed prior to the class. The seminar has 5 sections/modules of one hour each, each module includes several exercises and a Q and A session.

Instructions

It is strongly recommended to dial-in to the virtual classroom 15 minutes prior to the class to resolve any technical issues with audio, internet, etc.

Participation

You purchase a single "seat" which means that you should not share the invite for the meeting with others. If you wish to have several participants, you can order additional seats. Each participant will than get a copy of the hand-outs and license to the applicable e-book.
