(Running time: 1 hour 11 minutes) The Clinical Document Architecture (previously called PRA, or Patient Record Architecture) is the first standard set of XML specifications to be used for patient records, based on the new HL7 version 3 specifications. As a document, it is a 'persistent' object, in contrast to a protocol, or messaging specification, and a critical part of an Electronic Health Record (EHR).

This course explains the structure of the CDA, i.e. the header and body, the latter containing a clinical report. Examples are used extensively in CDA Level 1 specification.

This course is useful for anyone involved with the definition, or implementation, as well as the support of an Electronic Health Record.
