The IHE (Integrating the Health Care Enterprise) activity has been sponsored by RSNA and HIMSS since the late 1990?s, resulting in a series of vendor demonstrations of connectivity and integration between digital image acquisition modalities and Information Systems. The IHE technical framework is a comprehensive document that is based on many parts of the HL7 and DICOM standard, among others, and defines very specifically what connectivity services should be supported, and their relationship, to the level of detail of the individual attributes and data elements that should be supported. Several Integration profiles are specified that are not only the basis for these demonstrations, but are also used by vendors as a guide to their implementations, and potential users to specify and validate conformance.
You will get familiar with the IHE technical framework with the emphasis on radiology, the Infrastructure and enterprise imaging and information exchange (EMR) interaction You will leave the seminar with samples of all of the transactions that are used.
This workshop is ideal for both vendors who are planning to participate in the IHE demonstrations and/or are implementing any of the profiles as well as providers who are implementing and integrating these complex Enterprise wide systems and want to learn about the many advantages that IHE offers to minimize integration issues and optimize workflow.
After this seminar, the candidate will be able to function as part of an implementation team to implement or integrate healthcare imaging and information systems following the IHE specifications.
This is very much a hands-on seminar for which attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop (loaner laptops are available during the class as well).
